LeRoy Neiman Retrospective

Description:   LeRoy Neiman-Five Decades is a year long retrospective exhibit of paintings, prints, drawings, books and posters curated from the artist's personal collection. This extraordinary exhibit will showcase Neiman's wide range of subject matter and interests, from a myriad of sports covered "on the scene" to the famous people and places he has painted and frequented over the last five decades. Neiman has also created the official art of the 37th Ryder Cup Matches at Valhalla Golf Club.

IMAX: Mummies: Secrets of the Pharaohs

Description:   Ancient wonders, historic intrigue and modern-day forensic adventure come to life in larger-than-life detail in this “Indiana Jones”-type tale. Unravel some of the mysteries enshrouding the ancient royal mummies, how they were embalmed and where they were hidden. Featuring top Egyptologists Dr. Bob Brier and Dr. Zahi Hawass and DNA scientist Angelique Corthals, the film also embarks on a genetic analysis of mummies that could have huge implications for the study of modern human diseases. Learn why mummification was so vital to Egyptian life and witness the recreation of incredible events surrounding the late 19th century discovery of a cache of 40 royal mummies, including the legendary Rameses the Great.

Lincoln & Farmington: An Enduring Friendship

Description:   The exhibit presents the Kentucky hemp plantation as experienced by the young, Illinois attorney during his three week visit in 1841. As a guest of the Speed family at Farmington, Abraham Lincoln participated in the luxurious lifestyle enjoyed by Southern planters and experienced, first hand, the complex and intimate relationships between the Speed family and nearly 60 enslaved African Americans. The exhibit highlights the significance of Lincoln's enduring friendship with Joshua Speed, who, along with his brother, future Attorney General James Speed, worked to keep Kentucky in the Union. The exhibit curator is historian Kathy Nichols.

Barn and Backside Tour at Churchill Downs

Dream Chasers: The Art of Living on the Backside

Description:   The artists living on the backside of Churchill Downs are moved to create their art for reasons as diverse as the population. But all are chasing a dream, racing to discover the ticket to happiness. The work displayed in this exhibit will come from the grooms, security guards, exercise riders, assistant trainers and others on the backside who have earned a place in this unique equine racing culture where they work seven days a week. From pencil drawings and etchings to primitive oils and sculpture, the artwork serves as emotional expression.

This exhibit will highlight several life stories of backside workers profiling daily life on the track complete with sights and sounds. It will examine their environment for work, worship, learning and play. Don't miss this unique exhibit!

Bobby, Martin and John: Once Upon an American Dream

Description:   The Frazier International History Museum invites you on a righteous trip back to the days of the cultural and political awakening that was the 1960s. This temporary exhibition displays an inspirational collection of 150 photographs from the archives of Look Magazine photographer Stanley Tretick. You'll be jazzed as the Frazier Museum is transformed with music, media, objects and artifacts evocative of this wonderful yet turbulent time of American history. The exhibition documents this idealistic era through the lives, courage and struggles of three of America's greatest leaders: Robert F. Kennedy, Martin Luther King, Jr. and John F. Kennedy, all of whom were assassinated as they campaigned on behalf of the American people. The Frazier Museum is honored to present this exhibit during the 40th Anniversary of the assassination of Bobby Kennedy and Martin Luther King, Jr.

Be The Dinosaur Exhibit

Description:   Explore dinosaur behavior, food sources, ecology, climate and geography. Exhibit components include “Design-a-saurus,” which allows you to select basic body structures, size and stance to create your own custom dinosaur. At the push of a button, render the image in the style of any number of great artists from popular favorites to classical masters.

View fossils, fossil reconstructions, and learn about tools of paleontologists. Assume the role of a dinosaur from the Cretaceous period and explore ways that dinosaurs may have related to one another and their environment.

Learn how paleontologists search for, discover, and study fossils to determine different dinosaur species – how big they grew, how fast they moved, how they were related to other species, how they interacted with other dinosaurs and creatures of their era, what they may have eaten, how they may have raised their young, what their surroundings looked like, and how they may have died.
